  1. 3500 calories equals 1 pound. So, you need to eat 3500 calories more than you burn in order to gain 1 pound.

  2. Understanding energy balance is the key to manage weight successfully.

Calorie intake > Calorie use ==> Weight Gain

Calorie intake = Calorie use ==> No change in body weight

Calorie intake < Calorie use ==> Weight loss

Based on your given stats, your ideal daily calories intake is about 1500 calories for normal sedentary activities. (1.2 x BMR)

  3. wow! You are under weight but you shouldn't try to stay at that weight! Thats very unhealthy. You should eat 2000 calories or more a day. Don't worry about how much you weigh but since you  are so underweight you really should go to the doctor to see if you have a over active metabolism. That could be the only problem ( if you eat enough, if not then well, eat)

But just go out, get a big cookie and a hug and eat a few cookies for me!
