  1. I don't have a specific number for cans, but you may be able to extrapolate it.

In 2007, the carbonated soft drink market in the United States was about 72 billion dollars - I believe that's retail sales of soft drinks (cans, bottles and fountain)

So lets just say 25 percent of soda sales are from cans, that would be about 18 billion dollars in aluminum can sales of carbonated soft drinks.

Most of the sales come from the big brand companies that sell coke, pepsi, dr. pepper, 7-up, etc. There are also energy drink sales. Lets put an average number of $.75 per can when you clump everything together.

That would be about 24 billion cans consumed in the united states each year.

The current US population is roughly 300 million. That would mean people consume on average about 80 cans of soda per year.

These are rough numbers, just my own estimate. It's too bad so many soft drinks are so unhealthy - they basically contain poison. Check out http://drinkvivi.com for more info on the problems with the soft drink industry

  2. On average each American drinks 597 cans of soda a year!! Or a little more than a gallon a week! I have two links that may help yopu! Good luck!
