How many cats per house?

Question

My house is 3000 sq. ft. I have 3 cats now. One litter box which is cleaned daily. How many cats would be too many?

I have 4 in my house and it's too many.  Everytime you add one it messes up the chi and order they have already established, you have to think of that.  And you are supposed to have 1 more litter box than you have cats... or at least one per cat.

i think 3-4 cats are enough because if your cats are too many its hard to maintain a clean litterbox if you have many helpers i suggest 5 but if you dont have a helper umm 2 is enough if you are really an cat lover you should atleast have 3.

Actually rule of thumb is one box per cat. As for how many cats, only  you can answer that question. Do you have enough money to care for more cats? That last question means do you have enough income to allow for multiple illness or injuries, annual vet visits, spay/neuter as well as normal day to day costs of food litter, etc.? Does your community have laws about multiple pet households? (Some communities have guidelines to prevent what is known as "pet hoarding")

i would say as many cats as you can properly take care of and love. but i would say as a general rule of thumb, 2-3 cats per litter box. if you can take care of and love 8 cats, that's great, just have 3 litter boxes.

Hi gram,  I live in an 1000 sq fl house am very happy with my five cats. One is a outside stray and another goes outside but comes in each night at bedtime.  I have to change the litter each morning as well. I also live with five dogs, two pit bulls and a old rottie, a minpin and a pickinese.  Everyone gets along great and I have the cleanist house in town. I walk the dogs every day and it works for us.  I think ten is the limit by law in the city, not sure though, why?

i have 4 cats and thats probably enough but if your a cat lover yu could try 5 or 6.

I think you could be good with one more cat.  5 is probably too much.  But I would suggest getting another litter box.
