How many cattle?

I have a very beautiful grand-daughter who can read and write, and cook and sew and work hard in the fields. She is the personification of Shona values and womanhood, and a joy to me in my old age.

But the time is coming when she should wed. A young man, a strong, respected, good man, has asked me the price. I have to say I am not sure.

Perhaps you could help me to decide - how many cows should he give me for her? She is very special to me.

I would estimate about 10 cattle if she is plump. By allowing her to become plump, you have endangered her life, she is prone to heart disease and diabetes, which will shorten her life span.

If she is slim and tall, and therefore healthy,  then 15 cattle with 20 million Zim dollars is an acceptable amount.
