  1. That list from a.com is faulty, BDP.  Bill Clinton, Nancy Reagan, Eleanor Roosevelt, Priscilla Presley, Tim McGraw,  Gerald Ford, and John Lennon were all raised by their MOTHERS, and adopted by their mother's second husbands.  Not the same in my book.

Christina Crawford and Edward Albee were adopted and had awful childhoods, hardly success stories.

Jack Nicholson was adopted by his grandmother, and was raised thinking his mother was really his sister.  This is what was done in families before children were given to strangers to raise.

Ray Liotta, Faith Hill are indeed infant adoptions.  Another adopted friend of mine told me she read that the musician Eric Clapton was adopted.  In the article she read, he said the loss of his mother was worse than the death of his young son.

Some other ones not on that list, DMC, and singer KT Tunstall.

ETA: The reason I clarified this is because I don't think children 'adopted' by step-parents can really compare to a closed-adoption, where an infant is cut off from his ENTIRE family, history, etc.

I'm sure that Nancy Reagan didn't suffer from the loss of her mother, since she was never separated from her, or have genealogical bewilderment, she always KNEW everything about her clan/her self.  That is a far cry from how most traditional adoptions are handled, and the kind of 'adoptions' a.com proposes.

A.com enjoys using these people as examples as 'adoption success stories'.  When the truth is, as a group we are not very 'successful' at all.  Hard to achieve success when we are bound and gagged at birth.

And Nicole Richie was adopted by Lionel Richie, her bio father's best friend and bandmate.  So, again, no 'bewilderment' there either.

    Melissa Gilbert

    John Gilbert

    Dave Thomas

    Faith Hill

    Ray Liotta

    Marilyn Monroe

    Sarah Mclachlan

    Willie Nelson

    A bunch more...!!

  3. Nicole Ritchie

  4. Nicole Richie is the 1st one that comes to mind.

  5. Nicole Richie.

  6. You can find some listed here - I was shocked to see how many there actually are.

EDIT:  Thanks for clarification on the faultiness of the list; however, I didn't realize that the type of adoption was specified in the question, so I provided the list that I knew of.  I have been told several times on this forum that if you are not a bio parent then it's considered adoption, so of course I would include adoption by step-parents, etc.
