  1. Free to air analogue there are 5 in most places.  There are a couple of extra digital channels, as well as digital versions of the analogue channels.

On cable there are as many as your budget can cope with.

  2. Crime, Sin, Crapitall, ABC and SBS are the f-t-a networks.  I have not got and won't have cable again, so I know nothing of it now.  When I had it there were 15 channels but there are probably more now.  Mostly c**p then, so it's probably mostly c**p now.

  3. In Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, the commercial stations are:

Seven, Nine and TEN. The government channels are ABC and SBS. Note that in Adelaide and Perth, the Channel Nine there is owned by WIN.

Elsewhere, i.e. in regional cities, they receive the affiliate channels - Prime, WIN, NBN, Imparja and Southern Cross respectively. The content of the channels are pretty much the same as the main ones above - just the news that's different. They also get ABC and SBS.

  4. well in the metropolitan cities except darwin and canberra there is

    7

    9

    Ten

    SBS

and the state versions of ABC1.

theres abc2 and soon if not already abc3.

TenHD and 7HD are now avaible.

    9HD i think is coming

and then Channel 31 and the community channels.

in the regional areas there is WIN,PRIME and Southern Cross Ten and SBS, and the respective state versions of ABC1.

plus all your Foxtel,Austar,SelecTV and Optus Tv channels.

  5. i also know of channel 7

  6. Seven, Nine and Ten. ABC and SBS.

And a few pay tv stations such as FOX Sport.
