  1. only only need a 1 channel amp mono is better for subs

  2. Simple answer ... a 2-channel amp.

Getting harder ... or a 4-channel amp that is bridgeable to 2 channels.

Or .... if you know the impedance of each of your subs and the impedance that the amplifier is stable to then you could wire the subs into parallel and run them on a single channel.

Example: 2x 4ohm subs are wired in parallel (meaning one sub is connected to the output of an amp and the other sub is connected to the exact same channel in the exact same way). These 4ohm subs in parallel produce a 2ohm load on that channel of the amp. The ratings on an amp will tell you what impedance it is stable to and what the rated power is at that load rating.

Lets suppose that one of your subs is rated to ... 200W RMS power and 500W max.

You should get a single channel amp which is rated for >400W RMS power for a load of 2 ohms. (assuming 4ohm sub woofers and 200W RMS rating on them of course).

You should get a 2-channel amp which is rated for >200W RMS @ 4 ohm per channel for the same imaginary subs.

Make sure to get an amp which is rated for _more_ power than the subs can handle. The secret is ... speakers are generally not blown by overpowering them but instead by maxing the amplifier and feeding distortion into the sub. Get more amp then you "need" to ensure the speakers always get clean signal.

_if you give me the exact model number of the subs you have then I will give you a more exact recommendation_
