How many channels should a car speaker amplifier have to power 4 speakers and 2 tweaters?

  1. well most amps are 2 ohm stereo stable. So if the tweeters are part of a component set or have their own passive crossover then you can wire them in with the front speakers on the front channel of a 4 channel amp and the other 2 on the rear channels. If you just have tweeters then I would look for either a) another amp to drive them on their own or b) picking up some crossovers for them. They might be found at local stores under the term "bass blockers" but look at the frequency and get ones rated for tweeters


  2. If the speakers use a cross-over system, then you only need a 4 Channel amplifier. (most likely)

  3. A 4 channel amp will be great. Use 2 ch for the tweeters and the fronts and the other 2ch for the rear speakers..

  4. to get the most power out off your speakers i would use one 200 or 400 watt amp for the tweeters and one larger 4 channel amp for the speakers...
