I finally got my two rats, and my smaller one, a dumbo named Kief, loooovess cheerios (not the honey or sugared kind).

How many can i feed him as treats per day?

  1. It really isn't a big deal to feed your rat a certain amount of Cheerios.  I give mine a half a handful for two rats every once in a while.  The thing that's important to remember is to not feed rats treats too much.  Think of it more like a dessert than anything.  He shouldn't eat so much that he isn't eating his normal food.  Try varying it with other fruits and veggies he might enjoy like banana, grapes, carrots, spinach, frozen peas, etc.

It's kind of goofy to name a specific number of cheerios a rat can eat.  Just be sensible about how many treats you give your rats.

    Hope that helps!

  2. 3 would be acceptable

  3. There is too much sugar in them to be feeding them to your rat. Try giving him peas or carrots instead. Much better for his teeth.

  4. I give my two adults a small handful once in awhile and my baby, she gets about 10-12 every once in awhile.
