  1. The Most RECENT Public Statment For the United States is for 2005....

How many children were waiting to be adopted on September 30, 2005? 114,000

    http://www.adoptuskids.org/resourceCente...

NOTES: Waiting children are identified as children who have a goal of adoption and/or whose parental rights have been terminated. Children 16 years old and older whose parental rights have been terminated and who have a goal of emancipation have been excluded from the estimate.

The link Below offers several statistics about the waiting children:

  2. Too Many...................

  3. Seriously...I don't think they have accurate statistics on that.  Way too many to count.

  4. Worldwide?  I don't think there are reliable statistics on that.  But I think one could safely assume the number would be in the millions.  Children are orphaned and homeless from war, famine and disease all over the world.

The US statistics are probably more reliable and there have already been some great links posted.

  5. seach it on google, just type in something like... population of abandoned children. it will come up with lots of countries and how much.. i kno in india alone there are about 11 million abandoned baby girls because none of the men really want girls.

  6. UNICEF estimates the number of orphans at 210 million in the world today.

Other orgs. have different numbers....as it is impossible to get an accurate count.
