  1. Today's kids tend to be hyper.......twenties ok if the teacher is

a conscientous, responsible type of person and doesn't take her/his eyes of em, cause the'yll runcircles around teachers everytime.!

  2. I am not sure what a reception class is, but that ratio for a classroom is pretty good, unless they are under the age of 4 than that is an Ok ratio.

  3. I'm not sure what a reception class is.   However, a preschool classroom's ratio must be 1:10, in our state, one individual being the lead teacher and properly qualified and the other being an assistant.  So it sounds like you are okay there.  I, personally, am licensed for family childcare so my ratio is 1:6.  Head Start and MSRP programs are required to have 3 staff for their class of 18.

  4. That depends on the ages of the children and the laws where you live.  Where I live, in a daycare situation, the ration is 1 to 6 for children 2-3, 1 to 10 for children 3-5, and 1 to 15 for children over 5.  If the children are of mixed ages, you go by the age of the youngest child.  If it's in an accredited school, more children can be added to the classroom.  I have 12 2 year-olds between two teachers, but we can have up to 15.

  5. OK as far as I know reception is the first year of school. In our education system we have 20 children and no assistant unless there is a special needs child who has extra funding for an aide.

So yes I'd say it's fine. It just depends on your area's laws.

You should be able to find out what the regulations are by either going to the responsible dept's website (where they may have the reg's online) or by contacting them direct and asking them.

Alternatively your school may have the reg's on site

  6. In Australia, reception is the first year of school (5 - 6 year olds). I am a teacher with 24 reception children and no assistant. However, as a student teacher, I was in classrooms with up to 30 receptions and no assistant.

  7. when i wa sin reception we hardly had an assistant around and there were more than 20 of us!
