  1. the US does allow dual and multiples citizenships, the only problem i can see,might be with German citizenship,but the law has changed many a time, allowing dual citizenship;

    Brazil does allow as well,but only if you declare taking another citizenship,

    your wife should start the proceeding with the citizenship for the child.

    it depends on the date of the mother; what year was she born?

    If you were born on or after January 1, 1975:

    If your parents were married at the time of your birth you acquired German citizenship if at least one parent was German.

    If your parents were not married at the time of your birth you acquired German citizenship if your mother was German; you did not acquire German citizenship if only your father was German. However: a person born out of wedlock on or after July 1, 1993 can acquire German citizenship if only the father is German and if the father acknowledges paternity.

    hope it helps........

    but note:

    by naturalization(your case for the child)

    Naturalizations of people with permanent residence outside Germany are rare. Applicants have to meet a host of requirements; you typically have to give up your present citizenship(s) in order to become a German citizen, fluency in the German language is another precondition. (please call the competent German Mission in the US for further information).

  2. the best place to look for that information would be to contact your local goverment offices that deal with things like social security cards and such. they can point you in the right direction. however i know someone who was born in germany, but since her family was over there with the us military, she was still a us citizen. so she had birth certificates for both places and when she turned 18 she had to hand one over, so make sure when you get the information you find out what all that means for the child.

  3. there may be a problem with having dual citizenship if you one of them is US. the US prefer that you have one citizenship, but it is still possible. however if your children decide to live elsewhere (not in the US) but keep their US citizenship then they will have to pay taxes. I know for other countries, such as Spain, you don't have to pay taxes if you do not live in the country. The US requires tax payments whether you live in America or not.

  4. Your child can have all three citizenships until they are 23 at which time the German government requires them to give up their citizenship with the other two countries or they will revoke their German citizenship. Both the US and Brazil will allow Dual citizenship.

  5. It depends on the nationality law of the country of which they are citizens of. The US allows mutiple citizenship, as does Germany and Brazil. Before 1994 Brazil did not allow multiple citizenship but the law was chnged in 1994 to accomodate this. The law also states that people who are citizens are people born in Brazil, people born to Brazilians overseas (with some conditions). Germany does not allow multiple citizenship to those who are only citizens by birth in Germany and not descent. However, if they are citizens by descent (which your children are) they may hold multiple citizenship.
