  1. Let it dry,Then repaint.

  2. Stop.

    Wait for it to dry.

Go get some KILZ primer ...or some other such primer.

    Re-paint the wall with primer.

Now add your white coat of paint.

You probably didnt prepare the wall well enough first with primer.  Always start with primer before painting anything.

  3. If you buyDulux ONE COAT .... it needs ...ONE COAT .....  !!!  obviously .....!!!   if u buy rubbish paint from B&Q  you will need to paint it  3 times .....

  4. paint it for the second time and let it dry then if that doesnt work i would paint one more coat, that should do it.

  5. The only thing you've probably done wrong is try to paint as much as possible with as little paint as possible.

It will take however much it takes!!  enough to cover the previous colour satisfactorily.

  6. 2-3

  7. About 2-3 coats. That ways the strokes are even

  8. this depends on so many factors the quality of the paint a good quality one will give you more coverage also are you painting strait on the plaster wall or onto linig paper this also makes a difference  but generally about 3 coats should give you a good finish

  9. Two usually unless you have bought the cheapest contract paint or you are covering a darker colour.

If your walls already had paint on them, then you do not apply a primer.  Primer is for unpainted or occasionally problem surfaces.

  10. Generally you will need 2 coats of paint at least...If you have used a cheap emulsion you might need more coats..

The patchiness is caused simply by it drying and is nothing to worry about at all..

Give it until the morning and give it a second coat...Leave it alone for a few hours and apply a third if you feel you need to..

  11. two good coats should get you there try dulux hope this works for you john

  12. Depends on the wall and the type of paint.

  13. what colour was it underneath?

if it was a dark colour the paint will deff need at least 2 coats may bee even three unless you have a really good one coat paint like dulux, and a roller is always best especially if its not flat paper

  14. if its freshly plastered then put a couple of coats of watered down emulsion on then 2 or 3 coats of the colour you want.

  15. I'd usually start with sealing the walls.  It may take up to three coats of paint, depending on the paint you're using.  It should take a few hours, most paints are quick drying, it will say on the can.

  16. usually two depending on the color and quality of the paint or the color desired, for more bold dark paint go 3 coats to be safe but 2 usually is perfect. Makre sure you go in the same direction to avoid patchiness and make it neat, goodluck!

  17. if covering a slightly darker color paint it may 2-3 coats.but try a more expensive paint like dulux one coat.

  18. well some people would say not using primer first is "doing something wrong". i didn't notice you mentioned anything about that. a well known brand of primer  people like is kilz

  19. Read the instructions on the paint tin to find out how long you need to leave before the second coat.

If you are using a roller, I've never known a room to require more than two coats of paint. If you are using a brush, don't spread it too thin.

When paint is drying it always looks patchy until it has all dried because the paint shade changes on drying.

  20. It needs as many as it needs. Give a a second coat and it will look 100%  better but it might need a third.
