Question:

How many college credits should I take?

This is my second year at a community college.

Here is my schedule:

Biology 101 + Bio Lab 4 credits

English 102 3 credits

Psychology 101 3 credits

Basic Design (Art) 3 credits

Physical Fitness 1 credit

This is a total of 14 credits.

Should I drop the gym class for 13 credits or keep the 14 credits?

Do you think 15 or 16 credits would be too many?

I don't have a job. But, I don't want to overload myself.

This is my first science class. I'm not sure how demanding it will be. The lab will take up a lot of time. The lab is 3 hours.

  1. In your second year you already know what a full load is like. PhysEd is not hard: just show up, do your exercises... likely that there will not be any papers.

If you will have to take 16 credits in you last semester, it is likely that you will end up with 18 instead. Personally, I would attempt 17 this year.... there is a one week Add/Drop period usually, and as you know, the first day pf class you get a syllabus, so you can find out what the workload will be like.

  2. take 20

  3. Start with what you need, then add what you want.

15 credits is EASY without a job.  I had so much free time, I got into lots of trouble.  So having a job will keep you out of most of the trouble.

Keep everything in moderation.  NO binge eating, drinking, or s*x.  Keep safe and health a paramount. Your education is worthless if you are going to die of an incurable disease.

My last year at school was 18 credits and a full time job.  I gave up searching for s*x and came to a mutual agreement with a "friend".  I kept to a tight schedule (time management skills).  Set your goals and tasks to achieve them.  Put your tasks (and when to have s*x with a partner) on paper and stick to the schedule.  Years later I found out that scheduled s*x is what marriage with four children boils down to.

    I swam 10 miles a week.  Ran 10 miles a week.  Biked 10 miles a day.

I ate all the time.  I was so buff, I didn't have a problem finding my P***k buddy (another very busy person).  We agreed to an exclusive partnership that will end upon graduation.

  4. I always took at least 15 but no more than 16 (16 was my threshold and I couldn't go for more than that before failing classes). And if you are getting the pell grant or are on your parents health insurance than 15-16 hours will give you a little leeway if you need to drop a class for some reason... and if i were you i wouldn't drop the gym class... that will be your stress reducer... at least it always was for me..

ADD: Your semester doesn't sound too different than mine from my 3rd semester... and I did it...
