There are over 4,000 college campuses or programs in the USA. That includes all the programs that give AA or AS degrees. There are about 1500 schools that give BA or BS and various combinations of MS or MS, etc

THe US News Rankings system considers the rankings of about 1200 schools. The US News top tier that includes the most respected universities around the country includes about 125 schools.
