Martina Hingis first retired from tennis in 2002 due to ongoing leg and foot troubles and returned to the WTA Tour in 2006. The Swiss player retired again in September 2007, getting in before she was slapped with a two-year ban for testing positive for cocaine, although Hingis denies taking the drug. The ban ended in September 2009, and reports are that Hingis is going to make a return to World Team Tennis, but she’s not said she’ll rejoin the WTA Tour – at least not yet. So let’s count it as one-and-a-half comebacks then?
