  1. base this on your weekly milage.  My teammates and I (University @ Buffalo; NCAA D1) run anywhere from 50-90 miles a week.  We are training for weekly races though.  Training at this milage, we tend to go atleast 8 5 days a week (we cross train on Thursdays).  If you begin to feel burned out, try less.  By the way, what distance races are you training for?

  2. at least once

    not more than 3 times

depends on your pace and recovery

  3. it really depend what you are training for. a good training program varies in the workouts. Ex. strength, speed, endurance and rest. rest is especially important, at least once a week. easy runs proceed a hard workout.

8 miles would be considered an endurance run, i would say 2 consecutive days at the most. followed by speed, rest strength and then endurance again.

if you are looking for speed, i would avoid the consecutive distance runs. and focus more on speed workouts.

if you are looking for continuous speed, i would run long distance 3-4 a week.

if you are looking for distance, i would do a ladder to allow recovery. 8, 10, 15 then stay in the 8 miles the whole week. with once every two weeks a long one again.

it really depends on what you are capable on running. some of my teammates, run 8 miles in the morning and 8 at night. and sometimes 6 in the morning speed on afternoon and 6 at night. they are seeking top performance, and it works.

  4. probably twice a week. nothing more nothing less.
