Question:

How many corydoras can live comfortably in a 30 gallon tank with community fish?

4 guppies

2 rosey red minnows

1 black skirt tetra (i know need to school but has been doing fine)

2 red-eyed tetra

1 rubberlip pleco

1 kissing gourami (will be given away soon)

  1. 5-6 would be good and get 1-2 more minnows and 2 red-eyed tetras and 2-4 more black skirt tetras


  2. Good move on giving away the Gourami, before it gets to big and makes trouble.

    I would suggest 4 or 5 small cories, enough to make a happy little school of them. Then a few more of each tetra. The can often survive alone, especially if their tankmates are small and non-agressive. But they act differently in a group and seem much more active and interesting.

  7. It depends on the type of cories.  Lately, I've been seeing some dwarf species.  If you had, say, Panda Cories (which are small), you could keep more in the tank than if you got Corydoras Trilineatus.  Some are really small (search for hastatus or habrosus).
