  1. carpal tunnel is caused by cutting  off the  blood  supply to the  hands by  bending  or curling  your hands when working  or sleeping. I had  this  and was so sure  I did nothing to cause it since I am a house wife and did not use my hands in work except  to  email  sometimes-like  typing. I had the test  run  with a Doc and  he told me  I am sleeping with my  hands curled at the wrist bone. I  started to  check  how  my hands were  before  going to sleep and sure enough--he was right! I  was curling  my  hands so that  the blood flow  was restricted some what to my  fingers-  I had to wear a hand brace  for a while to  cure this --but  I stopped  curling  my  wrists and hands while sleeping and it is now  cured completely. It is a very real condition --I used to  get up in the night  crying with the pain is why  the Dr  thought I was curling  my wrists -cutting  off the blood supply  to  my  hands  and fingers. It may  be  a dis-order  many  cosmetologist  and  typist--and anyone working - twisting their hands will  suffer--but  stop the  twisting and curling the wrist and it will stop.

  2. Alot actually do. Standing up all day, cutting hair with hand in certain position..when you cut hair, Your hand is sort of bend..So imagine doing that everyday for 25 years..

  3. Well I was at the hair salon yesturday. And oddly enough they were talking about how being a hair stylist for a long period of years causes arthritis in the hands and well, carpel tunnel.

It would make sense to me that it is work related.
