  1. lets count them, just off the top of my head

    portugal

    spain

    france

    the netherlands

    belgium

    switzerland

    Luxembourg

    ireland

    Britain

    Malta (maybe)

    Germany (maybe)

is italy in western europe of sourthen europe? I don't know.

is germany in western europe or eastern/central europe, I don't know.

Well thats all that i can think of. and to the guy above me, that's an impressive list, but england, scotland northern ireland and wales are all one country.

listen to gunfan, he has the best answer, although, really england scotland wales and northern ireland are actually one nation, it's called the UK.

  2. Lets see, there is Spain, Portugal, Andora, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Austria, Denmark, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Eire( Irish Republic), Norway, Sweden, so that makes 18.

If you include Finland, and Lichtenstein and Monaco, that's 21.

  3. The 2 earlier answers highlight a couple of problems with your question. What is a country and where is 'Western' Europe. A quick perusal of the list suggests Liechtenstein (between Austria and Switzerland), Vatican City (in Rome but officially a country), Malta (an island in Med), Andorra (between Spain and France), Iceland (North Atlantic) have been forgotten.

And do you count Greece, Turkey, Cyprus? which are politically 'Western Europe' which brings up Croatia, Macedonia and the other Balkans which were 'Eastern' but along with Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland are into the EEC.

P.S. I think England, Wales etc are countries in their own right - mainly because it ups my tally :-)

  4. there are 21 countries in Europe
