How many credit bureaus are there in US?

3 major ones are Experian, Equifax and Transunion. Chexsystems is another used by banking to keep track of people who write bounce checks and mis manage their banks. I have heard First American Credco is also a bureau but I can neither confirm nor deny. All the major ones are Experian, Equifax and Transuniuon

The four listed on the national opt out are Transunion, Equifax and Experian. They own other little companies to sell the same info. TransUnion= True Credit, Equifax=myFico, Im not sur what experian is. I Theink CredCo is a processing company for experian, who specializes in 3-1 tri-merge reports and re-score services for real estate and loan proffesionals.
