I'm currently enrolled in two night classes for 6 credit hours to manage time and stress as a returning non-traditional student.

I'm not a particularly bright student. It would take a genius to study diligently and ace exams to gain most per-semester credits with ease while holding down a crummy minimum wage job.

  1. First, lose that self-defeating attitude!

After reading thru many questions here tonight, yours is one of the very few that actually contains real sentences, proper use of grammar, good spelling, and actually makes sense. So, I don’t agree with you one bit when you say you’re not bright.

Colleges say to figure you need an hour of home study time for every credit hour you are taking, so if you’re taking 6 credits, they say you will need 6 hours a week for studying at home.

It all depends on how many hours you’re working. If you’re working a full time job, one or two classes will be all you should attempt. If you’re working 20 hours a week, 3 possibly 4 classes as long as one of the classes is not real demanding.

I’ve been working part-time and usually take 2-3 classes a semester and one class over the summers. I'm not a math person, so when I took math classes I only did 2 classes those semesters because I had to work with a tutor a couple nights a week. I’ve also taken some Saturday classes that are 7 week classes. And, I did take a Jan-term class one time, but it was way too intense trying to squeeze in a semesters worth of work in 2 weeks.

Just keep plugging away at it, and it will open doors to turn that crummy job into finding something you’re passionate about.

  2. Probably 10- 12.

I work like 20 hrs a week and go 14 hrs and its not too tough.
