  1. What kind of yacht? Is it motorised? How many sails? Automated rigging?

  2. In the 1976 Observer Single Handed Transatlantic Race (the OSTAR) was an entry called Club Mediterranee skippered by Alain Colas from France. Club Mediterranee was a yacht 236' long. Obviously more crew were needed to leave and come to dock, but Alain Colas sailed the yacht across the Atlantic single handed and came 5th.!!! see the following

However, we now have legal requirements to 'keep a good lookout at all times' (I know they still single-hand, but they are breaking the law and are all gods to me), so you need a sufficient crew to sail a 120' yacht. To cast off or to come to a dock, you would not need that many crew, probably 3 or 4, but to keep a good lookout maybe running watches of 4 hours on/4 hours off with a whole nights sleep every 2nd. night, you would need 6 crew.

    Hope this helps Bigpathome

  3. Depends on what kind of Yacht it is

  4. 120 foot yachts have been single handed. But they also could have a galley crew, a top sides crew, below decks crew, etc.
