JUST KIDDING! Lmao!

Its just that nobody these days seem to answer the questions that people really need help on, well, what i was going to ask was that my ball python is currently feeding on small to medium sized mice, how many hoppers can i give my ball python that will be the equivalent to giving it a small or medium mouse?

Its just that the reptile store right now doesnt have small or medium mice until next week, only hoppers....soooooo, thanks for answering!

  1. i have the same problem that you have...i have 2 ball python snakes that will not eat rats and the pet store doesnt sell extra large mice.  i usually get mine 5 mice EACH...but then they only eat every other week.  it really depends on your snake.  maybe start with 2 hoppers.

  2. (Why say 'just kidding' if you meant it? o_O)

You will probably have to feed it a few, but also substitute the lack of meat with something else. Crickets don't have the same nutrients snakes need that mice have.

  3. Had me scared for a second too.. haha. =)

One or two hoppers would be sufficient, it won't hurt just for one week.

  4. It would be nice to know how big the snake is, then maybe I can help you. You shouldn't feed your snake more than 2 mice or rats at one feeding, it's harder on digestion. The best thing to do is find someone in your area that breeds mice and rats , it will be cheaper than a pet store and they should always have what you need.

  5. 10 to 20

  6. LOL...I was wondering why the h**l you were feeding crickets to begin with!!  Anyway, I had sort of the same issue last year.  It really depends on the size of your python.  I have an adult male about 5' long and he ate 10 adult mice one right after the other.  On number 11, he ignored it, so I carefully removed them both and put them back in their respective homes.  Lucky day for the last mouse!  It had only been 3-4 weeks since his last feeding so it wasn't like I'd let him go without for a long period or anything.  We now raise our own rats AND mice to accommodate all three of our pythons of different sizes.  Orrrr...one week isn't going to matter a whole bunch in the grand scheme of things depending on how long it's been since he ate and how often he normally eats.

  7. You scared me! I was about to e-mail you to the effect of "PLEASE tell me you didn't take advice from people working at a pet store on what was okay to feed your snake or something like that..." (I've actually overheard a pet store worker telling a customer that Ball pythons never got over a foot in length and can be kept on crickets for their entire lives).

Gah. Alright, now that THAT mild adrenaline rush is out of the way; two hoppers are about the same size as one small adult mouse, so that would be what I would recommend as a substitute for this week. :)

I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions at all on the subject; please just let me know. ;)

    Good luck!

  8. good god. you had me panicked for a second there... i was about to YELL AT YOU!! lol. i would go with two or three hoppers.. that's probably close to one adult mouse... depending on the size. try less if you are worried that it's too much. when in doubt leave it out! lol
