How many dance classes should I take a week?

I want to be a professional dancer, and I'm already in a pre-professional dance company, so I just wanted to know how many classes I should take I week. I want to take 3 ballets, 1 pointe, 1 lyrical, 1 jazz funk, 1 modern jazz, and 1 hip hop. That's 8 classes, but the company makes it 9. Is that a good number of classes if I want to be a professional dancer?

  1. That is alot of dances!

  2. To be a professional dancer, you must take at least one class everyday, if you have eight then that's fine. Just make sure you are doing something at least 5 days a week. 8 classes a week is plenty, just make sure that you continue to work and practice outside the class too. =)

  3. h**l ya tahts alot

  4. It really depends on your age and your phisical limit. If your in highschool think of how to work it into your schedule. Also be careful if your not used to taking so much classes. Injuries are very common when you over work you body.

  5. i think its depend on you....you want to become professional dancer, you must spent more time on it....i think 9 classes per week is better.....i think you can get more knowledge and experience....its is better for you if you try 9 classes per week first....than if you think its waste your time, you should take 8 classes per week....

  6. if you want to be a professional dancer you should be taking as many classes as you can! i wanted to be a professional dancer and i was at my dance school 5 nights a week dancing for at least 3-5 hours per day. that was on top of school. if i wasn't at school i probably would have taken more! wishing you all the best with you dancing! =)

  7. Yes, most professional dancers dance every day, most of the day.

  8. While on scholarship with Tremaine Studios back in the day, we had to take 12 classes a week. You will be so sore that you don't want to get out of bed.

    It was GREAT!

    Good Luck,

  9. it depends on how old you are. if you are still highschool, i would say lighten up a little on the classes. you have your studies to think of too. but if you graduated, i say go for it. if this is something you are really passionate about, you should pursue it =]

  10. well i only take 6 classes, but im eleven and i think 8 will be enough classes plus pointe could probably count as two classes bucuz it so hard. but if u really want 2 becum a professional dancer i would take 10 or 11 classes 2 work above and beyond 2 prove to everyone how bad u really want it, but if u do decide to take 8 classes make sure to work 130% becuz if yer going 2 be a professional dancer thats how hard you'll need to work!

hope this helped! keep dancin!   =)
