I am a vegetarian and I recently started eating fish because I have very low iron/protein. I heard it was bad for you to eat fish multiple times a week, is this true? How many nights a week should I eat fish?

  1. Fish is a good source of protein. It’s also a good source of omega-3 fatty acids

The American Heart Association recommends eating fish at least twice a week. However, some types of fish may contain high levels of mercury...

  2. LOL, vegetarians do not eat fish.

    Go troll someplace else.

  3. I am taking a nutrition class in college right now and my proffesor says it is safe to eat 1 fist size serving of fish per day.

  4. 0.

don't eat fisssshhhh if you want to be a veg.

  5. It's all about the mercury content.  Fish is excellent source of nutrition.  However, consuming certain fish with high mercury content can be potentially harmful to consumer.  For example, eating freshwater bass more than a couple times a week is considered too much mercury intake, while eating a fish with a low mercury count such as yellow perch, you can up the intake to 3 or 4 times a week.

  6. freash water fish 2 times a week

salt water fish 3 times ...

mixed 2 salt 2 fresh totall can be 4.

  7. 7

  8. It depends on how the fish is cooked or prepared.  Any food, including fish, that is fried, is bad for you.  So if you're just eating fried fish, than yes it is bad to eat fish multiple times a week.  Otherwise, broiled, baked, etc. fish is ok and you should be able to eat as much fish as you want all week long.

  9. You are not a vegetarian if you eat fish.  vegetarians do not eat animals and fish is an animal.   If you have low iron and protein that you must be almost starving yourself.  Those nutrients are easy to get in a vegetarian diet that is balanced.

  10. 4 times a week, salmon is good

  11. alternate days allows for nutrient absorption and for any toxins to clear through.

    that should work well

i was veggie for 34 years up until last month

i'll never go back! i feel great!

  12. it also depends what type of fish, the bottom-feeding fish and shellfish are worse than plant eating, larger fish like shark are worse than smaller fish.  generally if you arn't a small child or pregnant, you can safely eat fish 3-4 times a week, if you are a child or pregnant, 1-2 would be max. recommended

  13. Tuna, shark, swordfish and a couple of others have high levels of mercury, so eat those very sparingly.  I don't think salmon, bass, cod, halibut, etc. will hurt you at all, no matter how much you eat them.  Eat SPINACH if you need more iron in your diet though......
