How many days a week should you water a pineapple plant? I live in TX and it's hot here...?

  1. It depends on whether it's in a pot or the ground. You may have to water as often as every other day depending on the size of the pot and whether it's in full or part sun. In the ground (unless in full sun) once every 5 - 7 days. In full sun you may have to water more often, especially right now while we're rain starved here in Texas.  It's been so hot and dry that even daily showers in my area are not enough to sustain my pineapple without regular watering. Good luck with your pineapple and remember it will only make fruit once and then you can plant the top of that one for new fruit.


  2. I live in Florida where it's always hot also and I've grown pineapples for many years.  I've never watered them and they grow great.  They have a very shallow root system and I guess between the regular rain, the morning dew and the sprinklers in the area - they get all they need.
