I've been taking MACA supplement (0.6% Macamides & Madaenes) 300mg capsules (3 times a day) for 3 days and feel no more sexual desire than normal.

Should I take more or is it too soon for any effects?

  1. It may take a few weeks! here are a few other herbs that are help full!

Fo -Ti – This herb is known to increase sperm, because it cleanses the body by cleaning the kidneys and liver, which cleanses the blood.  It has been known to increase energy and restore impaired sexual function.  Side effects may include stomach upset, diarrhea and/or skin rashes.  High doses of Fo-Ti can cause numbness of the extremities.

Saw Palmetto – Saw Palmetto is known to contain aphrodisiac properties that help to prevent loss of the libido.  It is also excellent for the prostate gland.  Side effects may include diarrhea and/or stomach upset.

Damiana – This herb supports glandular health and acts as an aphrodisiac.  It is used to support sexual health and treat impotence.  Side effects may include diarrhea.

Ginseng – This herb helps to decrease impotence, lower stress, increase energy, decrease erectile dysfunction and increase overall fertility. Side effects may include blood pressure changes, diarrhea, heart rate changes, insomnia, and nervousness.  People with heart conditions, cancer of the prostate, diabetes or insomnia should use caution.

Maca – Maca is a great fertility enhancer with little known side effects.  It is used to treat impotence, increase fertility and increase testosterone levels.  It is also known as an aphrodisiac and to decrease erectile dysfunction.  It increases seminal volume and increases sperm mobility.

Yohimbe – Yohimbe treats impotence by dilating blood vessels allowing more blood to reach the p***s.  It increases blood flow and sensitivity to nerves in the pelvic region.  It also increases the central nervous system functions.  Side effects may include dizziness, nausea, insomnia and anxiety.  Using more than the recommended dose can be dangerous.  Yohimbe should not be used with foods that contain a high amount of tyramine.  People with kidney disease or peptic ulcers should use caution while using this herb.

Cayenne – Cayenne is known to improve circulation and increase metabolic rate.  Side effects may include stomach upset, runny nose and/or throat pain.  Caution should be used by people with stomach problems, diabetes, alcohol dependence and/or liver disease.

Pumpkin Seed – Pumpkin Seed strengthens the prostate gland, improves male hormone function and helps with muscular contractions.  Side effects may include breathing problems, chest pain, hives and/or diarrhea.

Cranberry – Cranberry helps to keep the kidneys functioning properly.  It helps so that zinc is not lost through the urine.  It is also good for urination problems.  Caution should be used by people with diabetes, alcohol dependence and/or liver disease.

Horny Goat Weed – This herb is known as an aphrodisiac.  It increases sperm production and stimulates sexual desire.  It decreases blood pressure and has a testosterone-like effect.

  2. That's pretty normal. Most people can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to notice the full benefits of any given supplement. Basically, supplements give your body nutrition it's otherwise lacking, so it depends on how deficient you are and how long you've been deficient.

Also, there may be further confusion that Maca isn't for sexual desire, it's intended to "boost sexual satisfaction and performance" (promoting sexual health, not desire). If you're looking for something to increase desire, I'd suggest Horny Goat Weed... it really lives up to it's name  ;-)
