  1. LAVADOG is quite correct.

It all depends on what your job code is, what your rank is, and where you are deployed. While on active duty, any member of the U.S. Armed Forces earn 2.5 days of leave (vacation time) per month.  You are allowed to carry up to 60 days of unused leave, but anything over 60 days is forfeited.

As far as liberty time (time off without having to take leave), it again depends on what your job code is, what your rank is, and where you are deployed.

If you are stationed on board a U.S. Navy ship, you may not be standing watch, working, eating, or sleeping all of the time, but where do you have to go?

If you are stationed in Iraq, the same question applies.

If you are stationed in the U.S., odds are you will have almost as much time-off as if you had a civilian job (barring any time spent standing watch, on high alert, or serving extra duty instruction, LOL).

  2. 24/7 unless you are on an authorized period of leave (30 days earned per year)

Edit:  Don't forget you get some time off - it may not be on a normal weekend or 2 days off in a row.

worked 12 on/ 12 off for 3 months with only holidays off because of a failed ORI in the USAF.

    aww a TD... Smoking..

Kids get me another cigar and a beer!

  3. You get 30 days of leave a year but you will never take a full 30..

The USMC infantry does not have a set shedule..You might work one month straight then have weekends off for the next 3 months then work for 2 weeks straight..

You simply never know how many days off you will have and I never really bothered to ask..I enlisted knowing full well that I was now at their mercy and if that meant training or fighting for 365 days straight then so be it..If your worried about time off then seek employment elsewhere because the USMC infantry stops for no one.

  4. The only guaranty you have is that you earn 30 days of leave every year.  If you're not deployed or in the field, you should get the normal weekends and holidays off.

  5. Same as everyone in the military, 30 days paid leave per year.

  6. As a grunt, you work your *** off. How it went for me, was you get to the FMF whatever unit you got to. We'll use mine for example. 1/5. The training schedule kinda depends on what type of company you go to. Mine was a boat company. but theres also a helo company a track company and a weapons company. we'll leave h.s. co. out. But you prepare for a deployment. Usually you will get to the Fleet Marine Force when they are just coming home from a deployment. Until the unit starts working up again, you will have probably a month or so til you start training. When the unit starts the work up, you can expect to be in the field 3 or 4 days out of the week pretty much til its time for a holiday leave block or pre deployment leave. Theres things that will keep you in the field longer, like a CAX or or battalion FX's. But usually the training mellows out alot during the last month you are home before deployment. But unless there was some kinda training op that requires you being in the field over the weekend then you will pretty much get your weekends off. Keep in mind, work ups these days are about 7 months give or take, given the operational tempo in iraq and afghanistan.  hope that helps

  7. You earn 2.5-days per month, 30-days in a year worth  You can request 30-days (if you have that much), but you may or may not get that request.  Also, if you saved your days, up to 60-days.  But you cannot exceed 30-days at the end of the next current fiscal year, and you have to use the extra or you'll lose it!  I had about 50 somedays and I was sent on deployment losing 20 days of leave, I should have sold them!  You get more money while on leave then selling it!  I didn't expect Bush deploying us to Iraq for the Invasion.

  8. 24/7!!!!

  9. dude,ever hear of 24/7
