We are planning a cruise for the Spring and dont know how many days we should go for. The price really isnt that different so we were thinking about going with a 10 or 12 day instead of a 7. Does anyone have any advise on how many days is too many or if there is such a thing? Any advice is welcome! Thank you!

  1. My first cruise was a 7 day cruise.  I had such a great time, that I wish we could have stayed on longer.  If it's your first cruise, and you don't like the experience for some reason, you might regret taking the longer cruise.  I would still recommend the longer cruise though if you have the time and money for it.  The great majority of people love the whole cruising experience, so chances are that you will too.

  2. We just went on our first cruise at the beginning of June.  We did lots of thinking and research.  We decided go on a 4 night cruise for the first.

We weren't sure how we'd react to the ship movement and really not sure how we'd enjoy being on a ship when all you can see is water.  We were traveling with our 2 daughters (14 & 16) and that had a lot to do with our choice.

For your first, as others have said a short cruise gives you a good flavor of what it's like.  If you wind up not caring for it (and that does happen) you are stuck trying to make the best of it.

  3. If this is your first cruise, I'd recommend a shorter duration - like maybe 3 or 4 days just to get your feet wet.

My husband and I went on our first cruise last year to Greece and it was 4 days long.  It was about 2 days too long for me - I couldn't wait to get off that ship!

If you are comfortable cruising, you can cruise any amount of days that you like.

  4. I've never been on a 10 or 12 day cruise, but if this is your first cruise then I would say go for the 7 day and see how you like it first.  If the 10 or 12 day seems more appealing and has more appealing stops (and you love to visit new places and travel) then it would be up to you to determine if you want to go that route or not. If you think you would enjoy it and want to go out with a bang then go ahead and hop on the 12 day.  Just be sure that you are willing to spend that amount of time.  Ultimately I would say if it's your first cruise then test the waters with a 7 day....and if you have been before then go all out.  Just keep in mind that the taxes and fuel supplement & tips on the 10 or 12 day will be much more than a 7 day.  Make sure you are compairing the final costs after all those fees.

  5. 10 or 12, definatly

  6. If your a past cruiser and enjoy the cruise experience then go for the longer cruise.  If this is your 1st time I'd opt for a shorter cruise in case you want to get off!
