I am leaving for a cruise from Venice. How many days before the cruise should I arrive to enjoy the city but not get bored?

  1. 700.

  2. 2-3 days

  3. in order to not stay too long nor too short and looking at the cruise, I would stay 2 full days after the day of arrival, in order to have time to settle down and orientate, then visit. Stay in town for 2 days. If you had more days you may go to the islands (ex. Murano, Burano, Torcello) which require a full day. Don't miss, besides San Mark's and Rialto, the grand canal (take boat #1 from San Marco to Railway station of vice versa and enjoy the architecture). Then you're ready to embarque to the cruise.

  4. If you are flying to Venice from somewhere far away, give yourself one day just to get over the jet lag.  You can just stroll around and sip a couple of espressos (watch the prices in touristy areas, though!).  Then give yourself two full days to see things.  This would not include a serious survey of the available art.  If you want to do that, you need more time.

  5. Look at the Photos on Google Earth.  pick your poison, lots of Islands to visit, other areas too, i.e., the Lido.

Stay in the city of Mestre, save money use the train

  6. Some people are feed up after a few hours and some spend a life time exploring the city and the lagoon.

Three to even 4 days is fine for an initial visit. You'll get acclimated and relax as you explore.
