  1. We don't use degrees to measure length.

    Degrees are used for temperature and angles.


  2. Firstly,

    To clarify a few things.

    1) degrees can be used to measure distance.  For example Edmonton is 9º 56' north of Toronto and 34º 2' west of Toronto.  Mostly thought, because degrees are variable distance, people turn it into kilometres.

    2) Secondly you can convert km to degrees, the problem being a degree is approximately 666.66km along the equator so you would get approximately 0.015º in a km at the equator.  This number does change though because the earth is not a perfect sphere.
