Question:

How many desserts should I bring?

My friends are having a bbq this weekend and there will 16 - 18 adults attending. I said I would bring desserts, and I'm just wondering: How many should I bring? I have no idea how much people will consume. Are there any guidelines?

I thought I would bring a mix of things... cookies, pie, cake, etc.

Thank you!

  1. I would take some peanut butter cookies, fruit salad (mixed fruit w/ cool whip), and maybe some mini cheesecakes?

  2. if you choose to take mini desserts the guideline is 3 per person. If you choose full size desserts I would bring no more than 20 pieces

  3. Bring a couple finger food desserts - mini cheesecakes and mini peanut butter brownie cups.

Maybe pick up a dozen or so of those cookies the grocery store has.

  4. i would bring jello with fruit in......... and cookies........

  5. Probably about 3-4 different things.

  6. I would bring 3 desserts. Maybe brownies or some sort of cake, a couple dozen cookies and maybe some healthier dessert with fruit. You could make one of those baskets out of a watermelon and fill it up with watermelon and other fruit balls.

  7. try a batch or two of these mini oreo suprise cupcakes

1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix

1 (8 ounce) package PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

    1 egg

    2 tablespoons sugar

48 Mini OREO Bite Size Chocolate Sandwich Cookies

1 1/2 cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

    2. Cooking Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare cake batter as directed on package; set aside. Mix cream cheese, egg and sugar until well blended.

Spoon cake batter into each of 24 paper- or foil-lined medium muffin cups, filling each cup about half full. Top each with about 1/2 Tbsp. of the cream cheese mixture and 1 cookie. Cover evenly with remaining cake batter.

Bake 19 to 22 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 min.; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. (There may be an indentation in top of cupcake after baking.) Top cupcakes with whipped topping and remaining cookies just before serving

  8. about 3 items should be plenty.

  9. How about 2 dozen muffins, two cheesecakes and two gateaux, most people at bbqs go for savoury things rather than sweet, so I think what I have listed would be ample. Hope this helps.

  10. This pie is great, because you can make it ahead, and do a couple of flavors.  The storebought graham cracker crusts have a plastic insert that flips over the filled pie, so you can stack them in the refrigerator (and they're easier to take somewhere):

    LEMONADE PIE

1 large container Cool Whip, thawed

1 6 ox. can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed ** (You can also use pink lemonade or limeade)

1 can Eagle Brand sweetened, condensed milk

    1 9" graham cracker crust

Mix first 3 ingredients well and fill crust.  You can dollop extra Cool Whip on top, if you want .... Chill at least 4 hours

This is a super easy cookie bar, that's absolutely DECADENT!

    HELLO DOLLY

    1/2 c. butter

    1-1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs

    1 can sweetened, condensed milk

    1 6-oz. pkg. chocolate chips

    1/2 c. flaked coconut

    1 c. chopped nuts

Melt butter in bottom of 9x13" pan;  remove from heat.  Sprinkle crumbs over butter;  spread milk evenly over crumbs.  Sprinkle chips, coconut & nuts on milk and press down gently.  Bake at 350 for 25 min, or until golden brown.  Cool and cut into bars.....

And, bring a fruit platter.....  2 pies, a pan of Hello Dolly, and a fruit platter should cover it (and be really easy to do)
