How many different chords are there playing the guitar?

wow... lol. I know nothing of how to play a guitar but I will learn soon.

There's aproximately 2500 and the poster here is correct. Leed's is a very complete chord book.

I have a chord book titled, "Leed's Guitar Dictionary" that shows 2,500 chords, but there are more combinations that can be developed because once the guitarist understand what notes comprise certain chords, then inversions can be created having new formations.
