  1. All of the above are correct, but to give an absolute number of fields would be insane. There are probably too many out there. Did you know that vampirology is the study and science of vampires. weird.


  2. The major ones are Natural Science, Physical Science, earth Science, and Space Science.

    There are many sub-disciplines such as:

    Natural Science - Biology, Genetics, ecology, environmental science

    Earth science- geology, meteorology, oceanography

    Physical science - chemistry, physics,

    Space science - astronomy, cosmology

    Some fields are overlapping.  ie. Geology is part physical, part chemical, and part geological.

    Even the sub-disciplines have subdisciplines:

    volcanology, seismology, paleontology, geomorphology, limnology, petrology etc.

  3. The first answerer is correct, but he left out the social sciences which include many other fields like psychology and sociology.  Really though, any topic can be studied scientifically (and pretty much is).  Science is really a process more than it is a topic itself.
