I ask because I bought the dog form a breeder. I got to pick him from the litter. He was the only Red one. The odd Ball. So I had to take him. His Mother was your typical tri-color Beagle. Brown, White mane&partial leg's mixed with Black. The Breeder told me there are actually several type's of ''Pure-bread Beagle's.'' I had never heard of a ''Red Beagle'' before I bought Rudy. I hope he's not a case of in-breeding... Anyone with any knowledge about this???

  1. There is only one kind of Beagle, and that is a Beagle (besides the Kerry Beagle, which is a totally different breed), but there are two sizes - the 13in Beagle and the 15in Beagle. Colors do not change the fact that it's a typical Beagle.

  2. Hi...we had a beagle that was what I called brown and white.  Her fur was sort of a rusty brown color.  The other dogs in the litter were all the same color.  I wonder if that is what that breeder considers red and white.  I too have seen a blue one.  They are greyish blue and black when they are born and have lighter eys.  Beautiful.

Post a picture of your red and white so we can see it!

  3. There is nothing to worry about. The normal colors for beagles are    tri-color, black and tan, red and white, orange and white, or lemon and white.                   http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/beagle.htm

  4. There is only one kind of Beagle, but there are different color variations.  The most common is the Tri-Color (black, tan & white).  I have seen a blue one though.

I've never seen a red one though.  Would you be able to post a pic?

  5. I think this is an acceptable beagle color. Check up on the AKC website. It may just not be a very popular dog color. Tri-color and lemon colored beagles are the most commonly seen.
