How many different types of sharks are there in the world?

Species.  Well, science does not really have an exact number.  There seems to be some questions relating to species id.  However there is some work being done.

There are about 360 known species of shark.

I once heard a figure of about 4,000, of which only about 8 attack humans.  They need to be exterminated.  People hate me for saying that, but its true.

Around 400 different species world wide. That we now know of anyways.
