  1. OK ... "officially", there have been 66 individuals credited for winning the Indianapolis 500, and I'll explain that here shortly:

    4x winners:  Foyt, Mears, Unser

3x winners:  Meyer, Rose, Rutherford, Shaw, Unser

2x winners:  Castroneves, Fittipald, Johncock, Luyendyk, Milton, Unser Jr., Vukovich, Ward

1x winners:  Andretti, Arnold, Boyer, Brack, Bryan, Cheever, Chevrolet, Clark, Corum, Cummings, Davis, Dawson, de Ferran, DePalma, DePaolo, Donohue, Flaherty, Frame, Franchitti, Goux, Hanks, Harroun, Hill, Holland, Hornish, Jones, Keech, Lazier, Lockhart, Murphy, Montoya, Parsons, Petillo, Rahal, Rathmann, Resta, Rice, Roberts, Robson, Ruttman, Schneider, Sneva, Souders, Sullivan, Sweikert, Thomas, Villeneuve, Wallard, Wheldon, Wilcox.

    Now - couple of things:

** Corum & Boyer are single race winners, but they teamed up for the win in 1924

** Floyd Davis relieved Mauri Rose in 1941, so both got credit for the win.

** Harroun is credited for the inaugural win, but he did have relief:  Cyrus Patschke relieved for appx. 35 laps near the halfway point in the race, but is not credited with a win.
