  1. You may get as many as you like. But, keep in mind there are aggregate limits to how much aid you can be awarded.  Meaning, there are limits to how much you can borrow for your ENTIRE education, no matter how many Doctorates you receive.  

    One benefit is- as long as you're in school, you don't have to pay on your loans.  They will issue you what's called an "in school deferment."  So, if you're in school at least half time for the next 5 years, you can defer your loan payments, however, that's 5 more years of interest you're accumulating which is pricey.

    The lifetime amount you can borrow in Stafford loans is $138,500.  I don't know if they would let you borrow if you already had a doctorate though...
