  1. Heya

I'm no pro but seeing as no one else has answered you i will give it a go

    there is

relaxed - which is when the horse walks with its head/neck stretched down and it usually a feature of a walk/trot test to check the horse is engaged

collected- which is when the horse walkes on the bit and collected and tracks up and carries its head where it should

extended- is when the horse steps out and extends the same principle as extended trot but at a walk.

working walk - which is when the horse is nice and warmed up and walking with almost a bounce in its stride and is ready to move into other gates

medium walk- which i mostly used for warm up and cool down as it allows the horse to walk usually with its head/neck more relaxed and not so much contact from the rider.

i think there are others... but they are the onces i have used... as for periople - a definition is - "Just below the coronet, the walls are covered for about an inch by a cornified, opaque material named the 'periople'. In the palmar/plantar part of the hoof, the periople is thicker and more rubbery over the heels and it merges with frog material. Not all horses have the same amount of periople. Dry feet tend to lack this substance, which can be substituted with Hoof Dressing." it is pretty much the white stuff between the coronet band and the hoof, and also the white stuff between the frog and the bulb of the heel - i'm pretty sure... i'm not really up with technical terms... hope that helps... :)
