  1. One!

Your wedding dress. You put it on in the morning and take it off after the reception. What is with people and multiple dresses for weddings. In my opinion if you are going to spend that much on a dress you better wear it for as long as possible. Besides you get only that one day to wear a white gown so keep it on!

  2. Just in case, I said about 2 because if anything happens to your first one.....lets just say you don't want your happy day to be ruined do you? its always good to have a spare and if you are not rich enough to buy two and anything happens to your first one, search for the nearest pure white clothes!! not as good as a real ones but works as well^-^!!!

  3. Well.... some people have 3. 1 for the day before, like the pre-dinner or whatever, like a light white simple dress, then a huge fancy wedding dress, and then after the wedding at the reception some brides wear a smallre less poffy dress, to dance in!

  4. It depends on the culture. My (Chinese) aunt put her foot down and got the number reduced to 3. I *might* have a going away dress, but I still haven't decided (which would give me maybe 2).

Generic N. American culture says two - wedding dress and a going away outfit, but if you don't own a dress that you'd want for a going away outfit then that can be any outfit.

  5. Why would you need more than one? And a change of clothes for after the reception so you're comfy on the way to your honeymoon.

  6. two if you got a big dress for the ceremony and you want a dress that's easier to dance in for the reception...I don't know what you would need another one for unless you're having more than one ceremony. or you're talking about a dress for the rehersal dinner.

  7. Do you mean for the wedding day? Just one - the vast majority of brides wear the same wedding dress to the ceremony and the reception. Only a few celebrity brides have more than one gown - for most of us, the money is better spent elsewhere.

The bride also needs an outfit to wear to the rehearsal dinner (the practice run the day before the wedding), but this can be a nice outfit that she already owns - no need to buy a special gown.

  8. It really depends on the bride.  You can change 100 times if you want...it's your day!

I will most likely have 2 because the dress I'm coveting (LOL) is a little too big for me to dance Spanish music with.

  9. One, and only ONE.  This is the one and only day you get to wear it.  Don't take it off until it's over!

  10. three,one wedding dress,two prom dresses.

  11. ONE!!

But seeing that you are greedy another one is fine for the after party!!  3 dresses will be over doing it!  But whatever floats your boat!

  12. depends on your wedding and what you want. 2 or three (not all formal)

  13. One of course. But I have seen Brides who have tons of money wear two one for the church and one for the reception. But that is very rare.

  14. You only need 1, but some like 2. One for the ceremony and another for the reception.

  15. Just one... unless you have money growing on trees in your backyard.  :)

  16. one, you pay a ton for that wedding dress, wear it all day cause you'll never wear it again.

  17. I don't understand why some people are getting upset about this question.  Different cultures do different things.  In the western culture we were ONE and only ONE, however some wear a different dress for the week leading up to the wedding.  Some people like to feel extremely special and wear multiple dresses.

I think if you want to get ready in a dress, get married in another dress and then change for  the reception then go for it.  s***w what other people have to say about.  I personally am only wearing one dress but I would love to have the money to wear a big dress for the ceremony and pictures and change in to something a little more casual for the reception.  Good luck and have fun.

  18. One, the wedding gown.......a second one if she wishes to change into a 'going away' outfit which was common practice when I married the first time, in 1974....shortly after the cake was served the bride & groom would slip away to a room the establishment had for this purpose and change into their 'traveling outfit'.....they then would re-appear and say goodbye to their guests....at this time the bouquet would be thrown.....but I opted for the bouquet toss before the cake was cut along withe the garter toss which was becoming a more popular way to do it...so you see how traditions in weddings have changed....in my mother's day the bride tossed her bouquet after she was changed into her travelling dress and just before she left the reception...the party would continue a good half hour to an hour after she and the groom had left........it had changed a bit when I married in 1974...and has since changed again.....brides usually stay til the end of the reception and keep their dresses on until the very last guest has left......two wedding dresses? This must be something new and I have yet to see it....good luck.

  19. 1 for each wedding.  Although in some cases, you might want a 'going away' outfit - which you'd change into just before leaving the reception for your honeymoon - you might not want to board an airplane wearing a wedding dress.

  20. I was going to have 2 dresses for my wedding.  One big puffy one with a long train and strapless for the ceremony and then one with cap sleeves and no train for the reception so I could dance without worrying about having to wear a strapless bra or someone stepping on my train.  I hate the look of butt bustles so I didn't want to have a bustle on my dress, just two dresses.

My mom used to design and make wedding gowns, so I was going to design them and my mom was going to make them. (so it wasn't like I was going out and spending thousands of dollars of our wedding budget on dresses, then would have been free).

I ended find ing one I liked in a store for the ceremony and it was shockingly inexpensive so my mom said she would but that one and make my reception dress.

I had already started designing the reception dress (literally my dream dress because my mom can make me anything I want). I was talking to my mom about the one she is making and how I might want a little train and then a "faux" bustle because a) my mom does the most beautiful bustles, better than store bought dresses, and b) it will be a mermaid style dress and the bustle sits below the knees, not on your butt.

Because I really wanted a mermaid dress I actually started to like the look of the back of the knee bustle.  I am also in LOVE with the dress I designed.  I know once I put it on I won't want to take it off, and the only reason I was having two dresses was because my mom said it would be no problem for her to make me two (my wedding is in more than a year).

So long story short I am only having one dress now.  The other dress I liked, but it wasn't "the one" it was just a pretty dress. And there is something about walking down the aisle in the dress of my dreams that my mom made for me with love that is so special to me.

So be careful if you are looking for more than one dress, because you will probably not find two perfect ones and be settling for one of them.  Then when you look back you will be thinking that you wished you had been wearing that one perfect dress the whole day (and in all your pictures).

    Good Luck!

  21. I know the current trends say otherwise, and there is some ethnic cultural influences going on too, but the tradition is to buy one wedding dress, and wear it to the wedding and reception. Brides would sometimes leave for the honeymoon directly after the ceremony and would have nice church type clothes to wear to the airport. But that was back in the day when one dressed up to travel.

Now days, the bride sometimes changes clothes after the ceremony, and puts on another dress. Some choose another wedding dress, some choose a formal or a cocktail dress. I have never seen this in person, only on tv. The dress change is supposed to be so she can dance and move around easier than in a big fancy gown.

The rest of your wardrobe would be according to how many parties you are invited to before the wedding, and after it. You will need something different to wear to the rehearsal.
