  1. our classes were only for 6 hrs total. and i passed first try.

  2. when i learned, they had just stopped using their feet.  lol

    i believe back then i had 3 lessons and i did pass on the first try.

  3. I've had about five lessons, and I've mastered parking and am currently practicing driving in reverse.  My dad said that it only took him two lessons... but it took him two times to pass the test.

  4. I'm assuming you're in the UK? :)

    The Driving Standards Agency (DSA), (the government department that sets the Theory and Practical Tests, employs all the driving examiners and regulates the UK driver training industry), have issued the following guideline (which I imagine is what your driving instructor has quoted to you);

    "Those who pass their driving test have had, on average, about 45 hours of professional training combined with 22 hours of private practice. Learners who prepare this way, with a combination of plenty of professional training and plenty of practice, do better in the test." (source: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Lea... )

    Everyone is different however and learns at their own pace and so some people will need more training than this and some will need less...

    Your instructor is a qualified professional though, so you should heed their advice as they know the standard required for the practical test :)

    If you are in any doubt though, you can ask for a "mock driving test" which can either be conducted by your instructor or by any other Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). This is as close as you'll get to "practice" what taking your practical test is like and because it is marked in exactly the same way as a real practical test, you'll be able to see in which areas you are falling short of the required standard and from there see how much more work you need on those areas.
