  1. Find out here!

According to this, it would take 5 Earths for everybody to live like I do. (I live in Canada, by the way - we're not as materialistic as you are, but probably use more electricity for heating during the winter. Other than that it's not too different.)

  2. The thing you forget is that we don't take anything, we buy it.  If  you want us to use less, stop selling it to us.

Of course, you're just jealous that our system of government and economics has created a situation that allows us to do pretty much whatever we set our minds to.

I don't see how it is my fault that your government can't get their act together.

  3. I believe the whole world could live like Americans. You act as if food isn't a renewable resource. Besides like geoweeg says we buy the food and resources no one gives them to us. How do you know that Americans eat, drink and sleep money? My guess is that you don't know every much about us at all you are just going by what your news media is telling you. Americans for the most part work hard to take care of their families and give their children chances they didn't have.

  4. I have read somewhere that we would need 3 planets...

  5. Probably about 5 (as things are now), as one answerer pointed out.

Remember, though, the reason we Americans consume so much, is that we are producing enormous amounts of goods and food to clothe and feed the rest of the world.  If the consuming countries of the world had honest and efficient governments most countries would be able to support their people much, much, better than they do now.  It's just so easy to get help from the good old USA.

  6. Well, lets see, there are @300 million Americans and lets throw in the G-8 nations and a fudge factor and come up with 1 billion people that actually contribute to the benefit of the entire world. Total world population is @ 6 billion so we would actually need only 1/6 of one earth. We just weed out the 5 billion that are a drain on the rest of us. Think of all that wonderful food and money that will be freed up.
