  3. it varies in the breed of the chicken

Very few chickens will lay one egg every day. How frequent a chicken lays has to do with the breed and the amount of day light hours in a day. In commercial production egg houses they control the light these production breeds such as the California white will lay and average of about 325 eggs a year. Typical barn yard breeds such as a rhode island red or a barred rock lay 3 eggs every 4 days then repeat th cycle again. Age also influences egg production. As the chicken ages it begins layer fewer eggs and the cycle changes to a 2-4 or a 1-3 cycle. I hate to break it to your uncle but there is no chicken nor has there ever been a chicken which layed 8 eggs in one day.

  5. Domestic chickens lay one egg every 26 to 28 hours (about one egg a day) for a period of 4 to 6 days. In between periods of egg laying, the hen rests. Wild birds may rest for months before laying more eggs, but domestic hens, specially bred for abundant egg production, may rest for as little as 1 day between egg-laying periods. Note that hens will lay eggs even without mating with a rooster.

  6. When I used to stay on my aunties farm, one my jobs in the morning was to gather the eggs. and each hen in the chicken koop yielded about 1 to 4 eggs. but there were always more chickens in the pen than in the koop.
