  1. It looses 2 electrons as the ion is Mg2+ i..: MgO, it's valency is 2+


  2. Mg is in the third column so it loses 3 electrons.

  3. Mg can loose 2 electrons because it has 2 valence electrons

    and it can get an octet structure
