My friend told me there were 8 but that doesn't make sense!

You know when you guys ask questions like that, it appears you dont know how dangerous Xistians can be - outside your own country. This religion is grinding to a halt all the good we Hindus are struggling to do in our country, India.

I really sometime pray to the Almighty that Jesus and his followers go back to where they came from and leave us poor, dirty, brown skinned Indians to our own devices, in our already impoverished land.

I thought the number was 7 pairs for clean animals and one pair for unclean.  How clean are elephants?

There were only two elephants in the Ark. Elephants are considered unclean animals, as of Leviticus (I don't remember the exact verse but I can find it if you want). Ask your friend where they got they're information from.

Noah took 7 of each "clean" animal and 2 of the "unclean" ones.

The dietary laws of Israel were not in place by then, so the classification "clean/unclean" here might have meant "clean" for sacrificable animals, and "unclean" all the others.

Vot cannot imagine Noah sacrificing an elephant.... have you ever killed a goat or bull???? Ooooooh!!!
