  1. It depends on the type of aircraft?

  2. These guys missed one...

Aircraft can have from between 0-8 engines. :)

Gliders don't have an engine at all.

  3. Depends on the airplane...

Light aircraft (Cessna, Piper) - 1 engine

Twin engine aircraft (Seminole, King Air, Canadair Regional Jet, 737, 767) - 2 engines

    Tri-jets (DC-10, MD-11, L1011) - 3 engines

    Four-engined aircraft (A340, 747, Concorde, C130, C17, C-5)

Six engines - Antonov AN224 Mriya

    Eight engines - B-52

  4. anywhere from a single prop Cessna

    to two engines 757

  5. The Convair B-36 bomber in service with the Strategic Air Command in the 1950s had TEN engines.  Six radial piston engines and four turbojets.

So that's the top end of the scale.  It ranges from there down to one (1) engine.

  6. I havn't seen one with more than eight

  7. At least one.

    Otherwise, it's a glider - or a bicycle.
