  1. A standard deck of 52 cards contains the following:

    13 of each suit (so 13 spades)

    A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K

    3 face cards for each suit (Jack, Queen, King) so 12 face cards.
