How many fish in an 11.5 gallon tank???

I only want small south American fish. Especially different types of tetra and albino cory cats. how many can i get of each. I want to get neon's, glow-lights and cardinals along with an albino bronze cory cat. Are cory cats algae eaters???

  1. Just measure the with the rule of thumb: 1 inch of fish= 1 gallon of water.

    And yes cory cats are algae eaters.


  2. Don't follow the 1" per 1 gallon "rule". You can't house a 11.5" Oscar in your 11.5 gallon tank.

    I'd get 5-7 Neon Tetras, 5-7 Glow Light Tetras, and 3-5 Cory Cats. Only 2 of the tetra species, because 3 is pushing it a bit.

    And no, Cories don't eat algae off the glass, but they'll eat algae wafers that you feed them.
