  1. 3 if fine, but if you take care of them really well they'll get bigger and you'll have to get  a new bowl for them.  Look at it this way, would you like to have a small room to live in?

  2. Omg! This is an interesting question for sure. Goldfish can't live or survive at all in plain bowls of water and usually on t.v they have them living like this, i just realized that. You can only have a type of fish called "betta" in bowls which are tropical fish. They are really cheap, and caring for them is really easy. Here is a link of how a betta fish looks like since you happen to not know...

  3. Two would be better, but I don't think that three small goldfish would be a problem. Enjoy your fishies. They can be kind of fun.

  4. None.

There are many flaws that a "fish bowl" have that makes it unqualified for being called a fish bowl.

Firstly, they are too small to house a decent filtration system. If you counter this with changing the water regularly, then you would be prohibiting the growth of beneficial bacteria inside it which is essential for a fish to survive.

Second, their shape makes it incapable of proper air circulation. tanks, whose open top allows for a large surface area, are able to dispel carbon dioxide and absord oxygen more efficiently.

Thridly, a goldfish needs at leat 20 gallons each to survive and keep its natural color.

  5. dont put your goldfish into a bowl they wont survive without a filter and airpump they are messy fish but if you dont care lol 2 would be fine try getting a betta they will survive

  6. no just one or two

cause goldfish are really messy fish

and they make a lot of p**p

so if you have more than two than there will be little room for the fish to swim around in and you'll have to clean more often

  7. A single goldfish needs at least 5 gallons, preferably 10 gallons. They are coldwater fish so they do not require a heater, but they do need a filter. Goldfish are a very “dirty” fish as they produce a lot of waste which makes it difficult to maintain water quality in a small aquarium.

The reason Goldfish produce so much waste is that they do not have a stomach, only a intestine that runs from mouth to a**s. This is also the reason over feeding a goldfish is dangerous and can result in death.

The only fish you can keep “safely” in a bowl is a Betta and even that is not necessarily ideal. A Betta requires warm temperatures of 74-84 degrees to maintain health and longevity. However, Bettas do not produce as much waste as Goldfish and in a warm room and with enough water changes (50% twice a week) a Betta can live very happily in a 1-2 gallon bowl.

If you have your heart set on Goldfish get a 10 gallon with no more than 2 fish and a good external filter (not an under gravel) and change 30% of the water once every 10 days (this is a generous time frame) They will eventually out grow this size depending on the type you buy.

  8. It's ok but two is better.

Here's a website for betta fish:

  9. That is a terrible idea. "Goldfish bowls" are not for goldfish at all!!!! Goldfish are actually pond fish and need either a pond or a large aquarium because they 1) get large (up to 10 inches or so) 2) excrete a LOT of waste (you need a large aquarium with a power filter to handle all of it 3) are active swimmers that need a lot of room. The only fish you can keep in that bowl is a betta, and some people on here will argue that even that is a cruel setup.

  10. I would go wif twoo... :D I gope this helped!

    xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

  11. no get a real tank because that is WAAYY to small for a goldfish, they et up to 12inches and tehy can get up to 12 diseases in a bowl, they can die of suffocation, and that is like locking you in a bathroom for youre life

  12. a betta or siamese fighting fish is a tropical colourful fish that can only be housed by itself or with fish of another species (that don't look like it or he might attack), it does not need airation in the water because it has an oran called a labrynth that enables it to breathe surface water.

you could keep a betta in your bowl but only if it is at least 15 litres in capacity, otherwise it is just cruel for any fish. if it is in a bowl at least that size and with no filter, you would have to change around 35 percent of the water twice a week.

changing more than that would stress the fish and ruin hte good bacteria in the water, changingless would be unhealthy.

because they are tropical they do best with a heater or heating pad that keeps the water around 25-28 degrees celcius, but if you live somewhere warm or keep him in a warm room he could be ok, you should have a thermometer to check the water temperature.

also remember when changing his water, always dechlorinate and treat it first.

a fish bowl is a bad idea for goldfish, as everyone has said. they are not as easy to care for as people think. they rarely live for more than 6 months in a bowl, but live for ten or more years in a tank or aquarium.

    good luck!! x

  13. hi there=] Claire already explained about the dangers of Goldfish in bowls, but i would like to explain about the betta. this is a betta:

pretty, huh? =] well i can tell ya this: if you put that beautiful creature in a bowl, it wont be. it will lose its color, and not move verry much. see, these lil guys are tropical and in order to THRIVE they need a tank of atleast 5 gallons, with a gentl filter and a heater. sure, he can SURVIVE in a bowl, but not thrive. please, get the apropriate care info and tank for any fis youre gonna get! =]

  14. 3 maybe 4

  15. Ever hear of a siamese fighting fish? The males can only be kept by themselves as they will kill each other or other flowing fish. They're the ones you also see in pet stores in the little plastic cups. They look like this:

    http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/an...

They come in lots of different colors too. Mine has an almost albino body with purple fins with red tips. Very pretty. They're also pretty smart. Mine knows that when I turn the light on in the tank, it's feeding time!

  16. It all depends on the size and if you have any decorations in it but I would probably suggest that you put at least 3 in and that is probably enough hope that this helps Good Luck.

  17. 0 is an OK quantity for a round bowl. A goldfish needs a minimum of 20 gallons and a powerful filter.

  18. I think three would be okay as long as they were small...

  19. never put them in a bowl they only last 2 weeks for 3 get a 10 gallon tank as lng as they are all 1 inch or less  long ( excluding the tail) never put them in a bowl it's bad for them also for the owners who lose there fish in 2 weeks like on elmo (don;t watch it any more) dorthy the had to buy about 30 fish threw 1 season it was really bad! so never put it in a fish bowl unless u only want it for 2 weeks but that's just cruel d some more reasearch on the, too and i do not prefer gold fish beacuse they have 2 much waste and if u ahve 3 over 1 inch then they will die in about 2 months i have had experiance trust me i have lost 7 fish but i know what to do now i hve had my other fish wich is a green spotted puffer (gsp) for 3 months now so i am  keeping her and never put mre than one puffer ina tank #1 there too big for 2 #2 they are aggrisve and taratorial

  20. to all those who said none....

    i completely agree..

to those who said a 20 gallon or more

    i absolutely agree

goldfish get massive and need very powerful filtration

a betta is OK (not good, just OK) in a larger bowl with regular water changes

a 5 gallon tank would be much better
